Issue #201

Time to Act.

This week has shown us the damage that a handful of people can do to our Democracy. We are seeing the results of 40 years of Republican maneuvering. And years of what local Republican legislatures can do to voting rights.

We also are seeing what Dems can and are doing.

In 2020, Dems  raised enough money and outrage that Trump lost fair and square and Democratic voters flipped the US Senate.

Without Dems, there would be no insurrection hearings, no $1.2 trillion infrastructure package; no addition of 41 (and counting) federal judges (more than double in the previous administration); no commitment to the Paris Climate Accord and clean energy; no higher employment and and wages.

Your hard work in 2020 made this possible.

Channel your indignation.
Follow your hearts.
Reach for what you believe.

TAKE ACTION WITH SWING BLUE ALLIANCE.

All Volunteer Roundup Sets Course of Action

This week’s Roundup laid out a blueprint for exactly what we need to accomplish in 2022. Guest Speaker Ed Loechler gave us a data-driven snapshot of which 2022 races he currently considers most important. By important, he means elections in swing states where Dems can and must win to maintain Democratic control of the US Congress.

Loechler and the many SBA organizers who spoke reminded us that we are the power that can uphold a Democratic Washington in November. They explained clearly where to put our efforts and what we can do to be most effective.

Here's your chance to find out (or be reminded of)
all the actionable info in the Roundup:

Help ensure wins for Senator Maggie Hassan, Congressman Chris Pappas, and down ballot candidates. Join other canvassers as you collect info that identifies support for the candidates and cleans up the voter rolls.

Nervous about canvassing? Learn the basics of  Deep Canvassing techniques at Canvassing 101; see the training article further down in this issue to learn more.

Sat, Jul 9 @ 10 am - 1 pm ET

Governor Sununu is making it even harder for people to vote … in a state where there’s no way to register online and it’s difficult to register absentee. There’s a great way for you to combat his shenanigans. Help NH Dems reach the goal of recruiting 900 ballot inspectors by July 15, in time for NH’s September primary.

Thursdays, 3:30 - 5 pm ET

This Monday at a fundraiser hosted by All In for NC, hear directly from two NC stars: NC Senator Sydney Batch and State Representative Ricky Hurtado. You’ll be joining activists from Swing Blue Alliance, Sister District, and four other organizations to raise funds for Senator Batch.

Senator Batch is running in Wake County for one of the most competitive seats in the state. Come and help Dems protect reproductive rights and voting rights in NC. After all, North Carolina is currently the southernmost state with legal access to abortion.

Mon, Jun 27 @ 8:00 pm ET

Before the All In for NC meeting, be part of  SBA's Volunteers Taking Back Democracy (T*B*D) Calling Corps. Re-engage experienced  volunteers in North Carolina to elect Democrats to the General Assembly and prevent a Republican supermajority.

Our partner on the ground in North Carolina is County to County. This groundbreaking offshoot of the Orange County Democratic Party backs electable candidates and assists other county parties.

Mon, Jun 27 @ 4 - 6 pm ET

Looking for Postcards?

You’ve heard about Swing Blue Alliance’s partnership with Galvanize Action. Together, the two organizations are reaching out to traditional conservative women, asking them to support open and honest communication in schools about race.

SBA organizers have already passed out the first 50K postcards. And there are 15K more, ready for organizers to distribute  to the postcard writers. Find out what's involved.

Be part of this innovative campaign.
