We’ve changed our name, but not our mission
During the 2020 election, we realized that we wanted our name to reflect the full sum of our community, our partners, as well as the independence we’ve built over the last five years. Therefore, over the course of the summer of 2021, we rebuilt our brand as Swing Blue Alliance to better reflect the reality of our organization, hosts, volunteers, and partnerships.
Swing Blue Alliance is Massachusetts’ largest grassroots organization of its kind, relying on an entirely volunteer workforce to achieve its goals. Our efforts are strategic and thorough, and we research the results to validate the effectiveness of our methods. We’re committed to protecting our democracy, working on competitive local and national elections, and expanding and strengthening the Democratic party at the grassroots level.
In collaboration with our state partners, Swing Blue Alliance volunteers engage in activities like joining phone banks, sending vote-by-mail applications, and educating voters, all to influence Democratic elections and combat voter suppression across the United States.
In 2020, Democrats needed unprecedented voter turnout to transform its government, end gerrymandering, and protect voters’ rights to cast a ballot. Our aim was to win the White House, flip the Senate, and take control of key state legislatures. We worked with local organizations in the swing states of Florida, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia.
Throughout 2020, our volunteers took 4.7 million actions, including:
- Writing 1.77 million postcards and letters advocating for Democrats to use their right to vote by mail
- Making 1.76 million phone calls to encourage Democratic voters to request and return their ballots
- Staffing hotlines to protect voter rights in key states
- Organizing voter education programs to increase Democratic turnout
