Our Mission

Swing Blue Alliance is the largest all-volunteer, Democratic grassroots organization headquartered in Massachusetts.  In partnership with organizations in swing states, we develop evidence-based programs to protect our democracy, work on competitive local and national elections, and strengthen the Democratic Party at the grassroots level.

In 2021 we changed our name to Swing Blue Alliance to better reflect the reality of our organization, hosts, volunteers, and partnerships.

2022 Election

In 2022, the odds were stacked against the Democrats with failed attempts to pass voter protection legislation, a weak economy, and low presidential approval ratings. But the stakes were also very high as anti-democratic candidates were winning Republican primaries in states across the country. Swing Blue Alliance joined up with other grassroots organizations across the United States to support campaigns in New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Georgia as well as recruit new volunteers.

In all, 2022 turned into more than half a million actions from volunteers, including:

  • Postcarding: 460K+ mailings across all state campaigns
  • Volunteer Recruitment: Nearly 17K actions to recruit nearly 3000 Democratic volunteers
  • Pennsylvania: 200K+ actions for phone banking, canvassing, and postcarding
  • New Hampshire: 17K actions to canvass and 24K calls to voters
  • North Carolina: 33K actions for phone banking and $380K in fundraising
  • Georgia Runoff: Nearly 17K actions across phone banking and canvassing

2020 Election

In 2020, Democrats needed unprecedented voter turnout to transform its government, end gerrymandering, and protect voters’ rights to cast a ballot. Our aim was to win the White House, flip the Senate, and take control of key state legislatures. We worked with local organizations in the swing states of Florida, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia.

Throughout 2020, our volunteers took 4.7 million actions, including:

  • Writing 1.77 million postcards and letters advocating for Democrats to use their right to vote by mail
  • Making 1.76 million phone calls to encourage Democratic voters to request and return their ballots
  • Staffing hotlines to protect voter rights in key states
  • Organizing voter education programs to increase Democratic turnout
