2022 Midterm Results
The 2022 New Hampshire midterm elections were an incredibly important moment for the Democratic Party. Having lost control of the New Hampshire state legislature in 2020, Democrats were determined to protect New Hampshire’s all-Democratic congressional delegation, including U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan, Congressman Chris Pappas and Congresswoman Annie Kuster while trying to win back state legislative seats they had lost in 2020.
Early in 2021, volunteers from Swing Blue Alliance got together to form a New Hampshire team called Win Blue NH. They knew that the key to victory in these elections was building momentum early and engaging with voters. To that end, the group worked tirelessly to support elections in 2021 and 2022, including the November 2021 mayoral election in Manchester, the December 2021 special election in Derry, and 2022 federal and state races. Hundreds of Swing Blue Alliance volunteers supported these races by canvassing, phone banking, and postcard writing. The group also worked closely with state and local Democrats in New Hampshire and progressive policy groups to ensure that their candidates had the support they needed to succeed.
On election day, the results of the 2022 New Hampshire midterm elections were clear: Maggie Hassan, Chris Pappas, and Annie Kuster all emerged victorious, while Democrats picked up 22 seats in the NH House of Representatives, thanks in part to the efforts of Win Blue NH and its hundreds of dedicated volunteers. In total, volunteers knocked on 18,000 doors in 18 different cities and towns, made 24,000 phone calls, and wrote 40,000 cards, thereby engaging with thousands of voters and help ensure that their voices were heard at the ballot box. Overall, it was a resounding victory for the Democrats and a clear sign that voters of New Hampshire cared deeply about democracy and Democratic progress in 2022 and beyond.
