March 2024 Frontline Update: Key actions to get involved and make an impact
With another matchup more than likely between President Biden and former president Trump, the 2024 Presidential Election is shaping up to be the most important election of our lives. Swing Blue Alliance aims to provide effective actions for volunteers to support Democrats. This blog highlights various ways you can make a difference today.

- Support New York: Register to Learn About Opportunities
We never thought it would happen, but New York is now a swing state. A number of US House districts in NYS that voted for Biden in 2020 voted for Republicans in 2022, which contributed to Republicans taking over the U.S. House majority. This year, Democrats have the opportunity to flip several of the state’s Republican seats.
By signing up, you’ll receive updates on upcoming volunteer opportunities – phone banking, text messaging, or in-person canvassing and voter registration (see #5). There’s a perfect way for everyone to get involved!
- Call for North Carolina: Sign Up for a Phone Bank
North Carolina is a highly purple and key swing state. While Republicans have won the last few elections, margins have been close. Democrat Roy Cooper won the governorship by 10,300 votes in 2016 and Joe Biden lost to Donald Trump in 2020 by only 75,000 votes. Biden lost by just 1.3% – the smallest margin in any losing state. Also in 2020, Democrats came within two points of winning a US Senate seat. And Chief Justice Cheri Beasley lost her statewide election by only 401 votes – out of 5.4 million total.
Now is your chance to help turn NC blue. These are easy calls, we are calling strong Democrats to engage volunteers and voters in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area! Last year, we made 10,000 such calls and were the single largest recruitment effort to rebuild the Mecklenburg Co. Democratic Party. We need your help again to expand the volunteer base, develop skilled campaigners, and test new strategies for the critical 2024 elections.

- Fundraising: Support the Giving Circle
Swing Blue Alliance is partnering with The States Project to fundraise through a Giving Circle because:
- State legislatures control the how’s and why’s of voting and thus directly affect who is elected
- Flipping or defending one or two state legislative seats may decide crucial issues
The States Project will leverage our financial contributions to make sure that campaigns follow evidence-based best practices to increase Democratic votes. We can collaborate with other Giving Circles to maximize our financial and political impact. The States Project knows where the money should go at each stage of the 2024 election. We’re almost to our goal of $25,000, which will be going to Arizona and North Carolina legislator campaigns, donate now to help us reach our goal!
You can also give directly to Swing Blue Alliance and support critical infrastructure like the Research Team. The Swing Blue Alliance Research Team strives to ensure all of our activities are effective so you know that you’re doing everything you can to support our democracy.
- Texting: Volunteer for Texting in Pennsylvania
Working in conjunction with Field Team 6, we will text unregistered likely Democrats in key swing states before 2024’s elections! Texting is an efficient and convenient way to connect with voters. Field Team 6 calls this BYOP or Bring Your Own Phone, although it actually uses your own computer with an anonymized Google Voice number or Apple’s iMessage app. And it’s a great way to register new Democrats!
Since this is the first time we are giving these events, we are limiting the enrollment to 20 people, so sign up fast. We’ll scale up our efforts later in the year.
- In-person Voter Registration: Sign Up for an In-Person Voter Registration Trip
Voter registration is critical because many unregistered people, if they were to vote, would vote Democratic. Being part of our in-person voter registration team allows you to connect with voters directly, answer questions face-to-face, and help them register on the spot. Your energy and enthusiasm can inspire them to participate in the democratic process.
