Despite recent laws that make it easier to vote in Virginia, voting in every election can be a challenge: in Virginia, major elections are held every year, instead of every other year, as in most states.
Virginia CD-02 is a hotly-contested Congressional District held by Democrat Elaine Luria for two terms before she was unseated in 2022 by Republican Jen Kiggans.
The votes of BIPOC/community of color voters will be critical to protecting democracy in the 2024 elections.
Primary voting promotes consistent voting habits, and greatly increases the likelihood of voting in the fall.
We are writing to alert 51,000 registered community of color voters in VA Congressional District 2 to vote in the June 18 primary.
Our postcards inform voters of where and when to vote, and of the key issues at stake (voting rights, reproductive rights, Medicare and Social Security.)
Our partner is the Center for Common Ground – a non-partisan, Black and women-led voting rights organization founded in 2018.
The Center for Common Ground has been active in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District (the Virginia Beach area) for many years.
CfCG works in states where more than 20% of voters are people of color – Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.
Its goal is to ensure every voter knows their voice and their votes matter.

Mailing Requirements for this Campaign:
– Mail postcards between April 26 and June 3.
