The time is now to make calls to recruit other volunteers, inform voters about down ballot candidates, talk with swing voters, or let voters know where and when to vote. Below you'll see reasons to choose Swing Blue phone banks and a list of phone banks you can join this week. |
Whenever we call people, we're aware that they are dealing with so many life situations that we want to be sensitive to. Right now, communities in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia and Tennessee are reeling from the tragic impact of Hurricane Helene. We at Swing Blue Alliance have reached out to our partners on the ground in North Carolina to get information about how they are coping and what we can do to help. |
Down Home North Carolina, a group that organizes in small towns and rural communities in NC, has been mobilizing members to help with recovery, including going out with chainsaws and winches to help people who were stranded, as well conducting a door-to-door canvass and a text survey to get a sense of exactly what is needed, raising funds, and building out a community resource database. |
Down Home NC is partnering with Organizing Resilience to raise money for a pooled fund for North Carolina and Georgia that will benefit community groups and local aid efforts. They suggest that those who want to help should donate to this fund: |
IMPACT: Phone Banking to Voters |
Why Swing Blue? Our team puts careful thought into the campaigns chosen for phone banks. We choose under-resourced campaigns where grassroots organizing can be the difference between winning and losing. Chop Wood Carry Water author and activist Jessica Craven says, "Join one of these Zoom phone banks all with training and support—they’re all with Swing Blue Alliance, who runs GREAT phone banks." |
Our phone bank hosts stick with you all the way and provide you with training and support. You'll be well trained, use simple scripts and get answers to any questions you have throughout the phone bank. |
You'll talk to more voters. Most of our phone banks use "predictive dialers." Numbers are automatically dialed at a rapid rate so that our volunteers on average speak with 8-10 or more voters each phone bank. If we have 25 callers per session, that’s at least 200 voter contacts in each session! |
The margin of victory is extremely small in many swing districts. The more callers there are, the more voter contacts we can make and the more likely we are to win. These candidates need and appreciate your work. PA congressional candidate Janelle Stelson says, "HUGE SHOUT OUT TO OUR FRIENDS AT SWING BLUE ALLIANCE for contributing so much capacity to phones...!!!" |
Here are links to the Swing Blue phone banks this week. We'll be calling through Election Day. The time to DO SOMETHING is NOW! |

I am one of those people who was resistant to phone banking... I wanted to get more active in campaign work but I couldn’t figure out which avenue felt right. In August, I received an email blast from a friend who would be participating in a phone bank to call people who had volunteered in the past with Swing Blue Alliance... So I signed up. |
The phone bank was on Zoom. The participants were folks from different parts of the country. After the initial introductions, the folks who knew what they were doing turned off their Zoom audio and started calling while the rest of us got trained and then started making calls after we were comfortable. At 15 minutes before the end of the phone bank, we all came back and talked about our experiences. Everyone had positive experiences, as did I. So, I decided to do it again. |
I then joined a different phone bank a couple of times and also had a positive experience... Callers reported out at the end with very positive results. I felt supported in the process and I’m pretty sure others did. Several callers were participating every week, or whenever they could. |
I have now received training and will soon be co-leading another phone bank to Democrats in Pittsburgh, PA! |
One More Thing:
|
Swing Blue Alliance is launching a new initiative to send mail to 8,000 likely Democratic voters under 40 years old — voters who have registered in the last year and live near a Satellite Election Office. The goal? Encourage them to Vote on Day 1 and help avoid long lines on Election Day. This strategy, championed by Simon Rosenberg, is one of the most effective ways to boost early enthusiasm for Democrats. |
Your donation NOW will allow us to send out these materials right away. Thanks! |
