Victories in Pennsylvania and Florida

Pennsylvania

Heather Boyd soared to victory in PA 163, preventing a Republican takeover of the PA legislature.

Boyd won by 3341 votes  (9,369 vs. 6,028). Along with our partners, Indivisible Northampton/Swing Left Western Mass, Swing Blue Alliance ran 7 phone banks with 161 participants who spoke to 4,390 voters, and identified 1,582 supporters. Kudos to those who helped Boyd win!

Donna Deegan defeated DeSantis-endorsed Daniel Davis to become mayor of Jacksonville, Florida. Deegan is the first woman mayor of Jacksonville and only the second Democratic mayor in three decades.

Deegan's opponent outspent her 4-to-1. But activists like you fueled her victory, with Swing Blue Alliance raising $8,816. Thanks to all who contributed!

All in all, a very good week for Democrats, with inspiring rays of hope for 2024.

Frontline Updates with David Pepper

There's still time to register for tomorrow's Frontline Update, to hear David Pepper, former Chair of the Ohio Democratic Party.

Pepper's 2021 book, Laboratories of Autocracy, revealed how local Republican officials have subverted democracy in former swing states like Ohio. His new book, Saving Democracy, lays out how all of us can stem the anti-democracy tide. He urges Democrats to pay attention to county parties in rural areas, where groups like Swing Blue Alliance can make a major difference in turning out Blue voters.

Come hear Pepper's bracing call to action and wealth of practical ideas about the importance of working with county Democratic parties to save democracy.

Sun, May 21 @ 5 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

Putting North Carolina First

Put NC Over the Top

Outraged about North Carolina's new draconian abortion bill? Join us on May 23 to help raise the money Democrats need to stop NC Republicans from running roughshod over women's health and freedoms.

Rep. Jamie Raskin and activist Jessica Craven will join NC Dem leaders to boost fundraising for Put NC First, the state's donor coalition. PNCF needs these funds now, so Dems can knock on over three million doors for 2024 -- triple what was done in 2020, and at the level that Georgia achieved when Warnock and Ossoff won in 2020.

Raskin was an unmatched voice on the Jan. 6 Committee. Now in his fourth term representing MD's 8th district, he is the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Vice-Chair for Organizing.

Craven is a rising leader in the progressives' messaging network. Her daily Substack newsletter, Chop Wood, Carry Water, is a must-read for many of us.

Join co-hosts All In for NC, Lean Left Vermont, NOPE, Register & Vote NC, Senate Circle, Swing Blue Alliance, and Together We Elect to make sure PNCF can recruit and train the best field leaders NOW for year-round organizing.

Put NC Over the Top

Julie Chávez Rodriguez, head of the Biden/Harris campaign team, released this excellent memo this week, outlining the Biden administration's strong record and laying out the strategy for winning reelection.

As Rodriguez puts it, President Biden "has shown he can deliver historic results for the American people, including helping create over 12 million jobs, leading a manufacturing boom that positions us to win the 21st century and lowering health care premiums and prescription drug costs. He and Vice President Kamala Harris spent the first term of their Administration fighting for freedom, for more rights not fewer, and for our democracy – and they are running for reelection to finish the job."

Rodriguez is the granddaughter of labor leader César Chávez and labor activist Helen Fabela Chávez. You can help amplify her efforts by spreading her message and by following her on FacebookTwitter, TikTok, and Instagram.
