Are you passionate about democracy, civic engagement, and driving meaningful change? Join us! We are a vibrant, inclusive community committed to understanding and challenging threats to democracy through powerful books, open discussion, and collective action.
Book Themes: We will explore the attacks on democratic institutions and the rise of authoritarianism. We will also explore grassroots strategies for resistance and change, as well as build a resilient network of changemakers.
Meeting Schedule: We meet the 2nd and 4th of each month to discuss the assigned book.
Book for July: We will be honoring John Lewis by reading Carry On: Reflections for a New Generation by John Lewis. A brilliant and empowering collection of final reflections and words of wisdom of John Lewis at the end of his remarkable life.
Book For August: On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. A strong warning from 2017 about the rise of authoritarianism, using lessons from history to guide pro-democracy advocates with methods of resistance.
Book for September: The Choice: Embrace the Possible by Edith Eger. Eger weaves together her personal story with the lessons she learned in Auschwitz as she teaches about resilience, forgiveness, and choosing hope over despair.
Whether you’re a seasoned activist or just starting your civic journey, you’re welcome here. Let’s read, discuss, and act—together.
