August Frontline Update: Gearing Up for 2024

Posted on August 24, 2024

As we exit the summer, Swing Blue Alliance is ramping up efforts to ensure that we have the strongest possible impact leading up to Election Day. From voter registration to phone banking to targeted fundraising, here are the critical campaigns and events happening right now. Your involvement could make all the difference!

Working America Campaign: Reaching 700,000 Voters

Our partnership with Working America is in full swing! We’re mailing up to 700,000 hand-addressed, non-partisan letters featuring personalized and meaningful stories from volunteers. This persuasion campaign highlights healthcare as a key issue, promotes candidates committed to healthcare access, and ultimately mobilizes voters to get to the polls.

So far, we’ve sent out 225,000 letters, but we have a long way to go to meet our goal. We need volunteers to help us break 300,000 letters and mailing organizers to purchase packages of 300-500 letters. If you’re interested in making an impact, you can learn more at the link or attend the breakout room after the presentation. Let’s work together to bring healthcare to the forefront of the conversation and push for progressive change.

Phone Banking: Connecting Nationwide

Phone banking is a fantastic way to engage with both voters and volunteers no matter where you are in the United States. It’s an easy, impactful way to activate others and encourage them to vote. But we need more than just participants—we need leaders!

On September 5th, we’re holding an informational session to explain how you can become a phone bank host. By stepping up to host, you can double down on your activism and support this crucial election season. We also have specific opportunities to phone bank for Janelle Stelson in Pennsylvania and to engage voters and volunteers in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area in North Carolina.

Your participation in these phone banking efforts will help amplify voices across the country. Let’s use our collective power to make sure our candidates win!

Registering Voters and Canvassing: Ground Game in Action

Nothing beats the personal touch of registering voters and canvassing in neighborhoods. It’s one of the most powerful ways to impact this election. Our teams have been hard at work on the ground in key states like New York, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, making sure every vote is counted.

In Pennsylvania, we’ve been registering new voters at transit hubs, libraries, Dunkin’ Donuts, and even naturalization ceremonies for new citizens. We’ve also been canvassing college campuses during Welcome Week, helping students get registered to vote.

A highlight of our canvassing efforts has been with the Harris campaign in Philadelphia. Our volunteers have been walking through charming neighborhoods like Fishtown (where there’s a fantastic ice cream shop!) and securing new voters. Many canvassers are staying in our Philly House, which we’ve rented for the election season. It’s been an incredible experience filled with new friends, great conversations, and lots of progress!

Interested in joining us? Our college campus trips are concluding this weekend, and the Philly House is nearly full, but stay tuned—new opportunities are coming soon, including a new canvassing campaign in Arizona! Join our info session next week to learn how you can canvass with the Maricopa County Democratic Party. Secure your spot early by signing up now.

Power Up Pennsylvania: Virtual Fundraiser on September 23rd

We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming virtual fundraiser to support four incredible Pennsylvania candidates. The Power Up Pennsylvania event will take place on September 23rd, and our goal is to raise $50,000 to help these candidates flip crucial seats and maintain Democratic control of the state legislature.

We’re supporting:

  • Janelle Stelson – Emmy award-winning journalist, running to unseat MAGA extremist Scott Perry in PA’s 10th Congressional District.
  • Ashley Ehasz – U.S. Army veteran, fighting to flip PA’s 1st Congressional District blue.
  • Sara Agerton – Candidate for PA House District 88, working to turn this district blue.
  • Anna Payne – Running to win PA House District 142 and secure Democratic victories.

Their victories are essential to reclaiming the U.S. House and keeping Pennsylvania’s state legislature blue. You can sign up for the event via the link in the chat or donate directly via our Act Blue link. Let’s support these candidates and make real change happen in Pennsylvania.

Focus on New York: Turning the House Blue

New York is another critical battleground for flipping congressional seats and retaking the U.S. House. We’ve got several key opportunities for you to get involved:

  • Volunteer Recruitment for Pat Ryan: Every Tuesday from 5 – 7 pm EDT, we’re calling potential volunteers in Pat Ryan’s district (NY-18) to take action for his re-election campaign. It’s a simple, yet powerful way to make a difference.
  • Knock to Flip NY-19 Blue: Weekends from 10 am – 4 pm EDT, join us in scenic Hudson Valley, just over the MA border, to canvass for Josh Riley. Help us flip this winnable congressional seat.
  • Donate to Josh Riley’s Congressional Campaign: If you can’t canvass, you can still help by supporting Josh Riley’s campaign financially. Every contribution helps bring us closer to flipping NY-19.

Conclusion

As we gear up for the final push toward Election Day, there’s no shortage of opportunities to get involved. Whether it’s writing letters, phone banking, canvassing, or fundraising, your contribution matters. Together, we can push forward and create the change we want to see. Let’s power up and win big in 2024!
