Winning Elections in 2025 and 2026

Our work centers around improving Democrats’ electoral chances in key races. We have election planning teams for Virginia, Maine and Pennsylvania who are currently researching demographics, narrowing down Congressional, State Legislature, and State-Wide districts to target, and contacting potential partners.

Even as we continue to find the best ways that we can play a role in successfully electing Democrats in upcoming elections, we need to look forward to 2026 to assess the opportunities those elections present and figure out the partners and interventions we can add to have successful outcomes. Our teams are currently performing research and developing on-the-ground partnerships, and will connect with Swing Blue Alliance phone banking, mailing, canvassing and other tactical teams as the needs of our partners (grassroots groups, local Dem groups and campaigns) are determined.

Countering Right Wing Media

We train volunteers to use social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, and BlueSky. We join locally based efforts using social media to support the campaigns of Democratic candidates for legislative and judicial positions. Our volunteers amplify the posts of local posters and create their own posts following messaging guidance.
We are planning to begin using Swing Blue Alliance’s own social media accounts to establish an organizational presence on these platforms (as of April 2025).

We are also learning about content creator recruitment and mentorship programs seeking to generate large numbers of content creators and influencers who include progressive ideas in their posts, working with organizations including WeAreChorus, Connect Forward, and others; we hope to provide information and content relevant for specific populations we are attempting to reach to influence voters.

Opposing the Trump Agenda

We hold our elected officials accountable while working through our contacts to try to influence key Senators in other states. We cooperate with Indivisible Massachusetts Coalitions on key actions, especially holding our elected officials accountable and planning rallies and visibility brigades. We support organizers of all stripes and sizes who are working to fight the looming authoritarianism that threatens our nation.

Reform the Democratic Party

The Democratic Party struggles to win elections, which is surprising given the overwhelming national popularity of so many of its platform positions, its long record of superior economic performance on both Main Street and Wall Street, and the breathtaking anti-democratic, corrupt, and destructive actions of the Republican Party. Part of the problem has been that our national Democratic leadership is out of step with the motivations, needs, and resources at the local level.

Reforming the Democratic Party advocates for a more responsive, grassroots-driven Democratic Party. This team is learning more about the ways the Democratic Party works and how we can intervene with the Democratic Party so that it can successfully leverage the all-volunteer year-round groups like ours to win elections, including encouraging them to work state-by-state to renew and revive local and county Democratic institutions.

Strengthening Grassroots Networks

Swing Blue Alliance connects with, amplifies, and supports the ecosystem of all-volunteer grassroots groups across the U.S. We bring grassroots leaders together through the Grassroots Fundraising Network, the Field Leaders Research Network and the Grassroots Connector. Within Massachusetts we work to support the Indivisible Massachusetts Coalition and the creation of new local groups.
