Canvassing in uncompetitive elections

*** Canvassing is effective even in uncompetitive elections. “It appears that canvassers can successfully motivate citizens to participate in the voting process even when the election seems to have few policy repercussions. The fact that canvassing attracts voters to the polls regardless of the stakes provides an important insight into how and why canvassing works.  Canvassing evidently makes voters feel that their civic participation is valued.”
