CALL TO ACTION |
Since January, Republicans in state legislatures have introduced
more than 253
bills to restrict voting. In addition, the U.S. Supreme Court is about to hand down its decision in Brnovich v. Democratic National Committee, a case about two Arizona laws that would make it harder for Black, Hispanic, and Native Americans to vote.
And Mitch McConnell says, “States are not engaging in trying to suppress voters whatsoever.” Really? The House has already passed For the People (H.R. 1/S.R. 1), a sweeping expansion of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Today, the Senate is debating the bill. Sadly, For the People doesn’t stand a chance without reforming the filibuster, a procedure that enables senators to block legislation with fewer than 60 votes.
You can send postcards to activists in Arizona. The postcards encourage voters to call Democratic Senator Krysten Sinema, urging her to (a) support For the People and (b) block Republicans' attempt to kill it with a filibuster.
Pick up your postcard kits! This weekend only!
Join a phone bank and call voters in targeted districts. You'll be asking them to encourage their Senators to support For the People. Each phone bank shift includes training; experienced phone bankers can get materials and start calling right away! |
