Issue #219

●  A note to our letter and postcard team  ●  Canvass, call, and text to get out the vote in NH

Put Cheri Beasley in the Senate and prevent a supermajority in NC
●  Battle for democracy in PA: On the phone and on the ground

This election is within our grasp. Dems WILL win many of the US Congressional elections IF enough Dems vote. What's more, YOU can help make that happen with just a couple of hours between today and November 8.

You are what stands between the MAGA horde and the alternative: a Democratic Congress and women’s rights, racial equality, and freedom to vote in swing states.

What's next for postcard and letter writers?

Swing Blue Alliance -- and the swing state Democratic organizations we have supported -- are amazed by and grateful for all you have achieved in the last months. Thanks to your organizing and writing, hundreds of thousands of mailings have reached potential Democratic voters.

Do you want to make sure your efforts pay off?

Join any of the events described in this newsletter and seal the deal!

Get Active in NH

The races for both Senator Hassan and Congressman Pappas are very close, and the outcome in New Hampshire is far from certain.  If you want Dems to maintain control of the Senate and House in DC, then you'll jump on these opportunities to get out the vote in NH.

Pick two of the following events in the next 10 days and lend a hand so New Hampshire swings blue.

Join the Swing Blue Alliance canvassing brigade in New Hampshire. In fact, bring a friend and make a day of it! Opportunities to work with experienced canvassers abound.

Sat, Nov 5 in Dover @ 10 am - 1 pm EDT

Sun, Nov 6 in Exeter @ 12 - 4 pm EDT

Mon, Nov 7 in Bedford and Tues, Nov 8 (election day!) in Goffstown
@ 10 am - 1 pm, 2 - 5 pm, and 4 - 7 pm EST

Make sure our year-long efforts in NH pay off. Call friendly Democratic voters who might need encouragement to vote.

Tue, Nov 1 @ 5 - 7 pm EDT

Text Democratic voters in NH about their plans to turn out in this year’s critical November election!

Sat, Nov @ 10 am - 2 pm & 12 - 2 pm EDT

Tue, Nov 8 @ 8 - 10 am EDT

All About North Carolina

Cheri Beasley, Valerie Jordan, and down-ballot North Carolinians can win. Dems can protect the legislature from a Republican supermajority (that could overrule Democratic Governor Roy Cooper).

The country needs you and fellow volunteers to help NC Democrats cast their votes.

The turnout in NC’s 2021 primary surged 30% higher than in the 2018 midterms. Let’s make sure this election's turnout includes more Dems than Republicans!

It's a fact. Nothing works as well as canvassing to get out the vote. Join Swing Blue Alliance's first foray of this election into the heart of NC.

It's a double win: Make plans to discover the Tar Heel State's beauty or meet up with distant friends. And use this opportunity to help Dems vote.

There is housing for those of you willing to take this extra step.

There are ten days left. Pick two or three phonebanks and call sympathetic Dems. All they need is a little information or gentle encouragement to turn in their ballots.

The Battle in Pennsylvania

Join the Volunteers TBD Calling Corps and remind PA Dems to return their mail-in ballots into drop boxes or in the post.

Fri, Nov 4 @ 2 - 4 pm EDT

Due to gerrymandering, Democratic US Senator Susan Wild’s new district leans Republican by 4 points. She and her opponent are neck and neck. However, as we’ve seen time and again (see the first article), polls can be fickle, and Wild has proved herself in two terms in Congress.

What will it take?

Given the population in the redistricted constituency, all Wild needs to win is a bigger Democratic turnout.

If you are willing to spend a couple of hours on the phone talking to friendly, easy-to-motivate Democrats, you can help push Wild over the top. You’ll be calling experienced volunteers who have only ten days to step up and either canvass or work the polls. Not a big ask in this political environment.

Sun, Oct 30 @ 5 - 7 pm EDT

The PA Dems know that Democratic control of the House and Senate could very well depend on good organization. Successful get-out-the-vote campaigns are critical in these days before the election.

Swing Blue Alliance leader Susan Labandibar took on the challenge. She temporarily transplanted herself to Reading, PA, where she became a field organizer for the PA Dems.

Since then, a band of dedicated SBA callers have worked diligently with Susan to recruit local volunteers in a quest for Democratic voters. Ten SBA callers made 2,449 volunteer recruitment phone calls!

Friendly competition PA Dems

In fact, Susan and her cohorts exceeded the PA Dems' volunteer recruiting goals! Last week, SBA was third most prolific recruiting team among the PA Dems volunteers.

In addition, fourteen SBA volunteers are making the trek to Reading where they're knocking on doors and helping Susan prepare for canvass launches. Susan would also like to thank the many volunteers who've kept the wheels turning on the SBA bus while she is organizing in PA.
