Georgia in the Headlights
With control of the US Senate on everyone’s mind, SBA leaders have their eyes on Georgia and the runoff election in Georgia. Incumbent Dem Raphael Warnock is facing off against his proven hypocritical opponent, ex-football star Herschel Walker, who has never held any public office.
Our experienced team is researching the state and possible actions to determine where we will have the most impact. They will apply everything learned in the past two years to maximize the effectiveness of your efforts.
Find out what you can do!
Come to the Swing Blue Roundup: Georgia Runoff and learn how you can get Warnock re-elected to preserve the Dem majority in the US Senate. The Roundup keynote speaker is Martha Shockey, the co-convener of the Indivisible Georgia Coalition and her home group, Indivisible GA-04.
To get started as soon as possible, the Roundup is now at a special time and date: Wed, Nov 16 @ 7 pm EST.

The Midterms Are Not Over

Opportunity to Cure Ballots

Some very important races are still too close to call. Ballot curing may have a real impact on the final tally of Democratic votes. Let's help push Dems over the finish line in these neck-and-neck races!

SBA helped elect, from left to right, PA US Senator John Fetterman and NH's US Senator Maggie Hassan, US Representative Chris Pappas, and US Representative Annie Kuster.
Unlike most midterms, the party in power didn’t experience significant losses. It was the best midterm election for Dem governors since 1986 and for Dem representatives since 1982.
Voter turnout made the difference
In many swing states, more voters participated than in the last midterm election in 2018, which was a record year. The biggest increase in voter numbers was in young people and suburban women.
Swing Blue Alliance actions focused entirely on voter turnout, so you should be proud of all you accomplished. Read on for a recap of all we did
Swing Blue Alliance is proud and grateful for all you have accomplished this year!
NH Sen. Maggie Hassan, Steve Vogel, MN Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Lisa Zankman, and Paula Joseph unite for NH Dems.
Despite pollster predictions, Dem voters in NH stood up for quality education and a woman’s right to choose while rejecting MAGA right-wing libertarianism. SBA supported Senator Maggie Hassan, as well as US Reps Chris Pappas and Annie Kuster. It was a trifecta win by wider margins than expected!
- Sent 40,000 postcards
- Enlisted 244 canvassers who went to NH for a total of 708 canvassing shifts
- Knocked on almost 18,000 doors
- Made more than 20,000 calls to voters
On October 4, SBA's invincible Susan Labandibar became the Berks County Field Organizer for the PA Dems. Her goal was to organize a GOTV campaign to elect John Fetterman, Josh Shapiro, Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, and Chrissy Houlahan. (Susan Wild and Matt Cartwright also won in other PA districts.)
Forty-seven (!) volunteers came in person to Susan’s first organizing meeting. Joining Susan were Harlan Kutchner of the now defunct Berks Progressive Volunteers and Dan Miner, a Swing Blue Alliance volunteer.
These intrepid leaders supported PA efforts through phone calls and door-to-door canvassing. Thanks to their efforts, John Fetterman, Josh Shapiro, Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, and Chrissy Houlahan all won their races.
It was a multi-pronged effort:
- Twelve remote volunteers made 4,000 calls, recruiting support and confirming shift attendance.
- Spanish-speaking volunteers completed 20 phonebank shifts.
- Remote volunteers made 1,480 calls and 240 voter contacts
- In 337 canvassing shifts, volunteers knocked on 13,363 doors that represented 21,337 people; canvassers had successful conversations with 4,220 voters.
Late breaking news! Thanks to hard work by myriad volunteers, we're on the verge of flipping the State House for Democrats for the first time in over a decade! Mark Moffa's leading by two votes, and the margin is likely to grow over the next few days as the last votes are counted.
As we knew ahead of time, North Carolina is a tough nut to crack. SBA partnered with All in for NC, County to County, and a network of local NC groups. Despite major efforts, they were not able to put Ricky Hurtado, Linda Cooper Suggs, and Christy Clark over the line.
Here's the good news! Your hard work contributed to wins by Terence Everitt, Mary Wills Bode, Sydney Batch, Laura Budd, and Diamond Staton-Williams. The real victory was maintaining the Democrat’s veto-proof legislative majority in the State Senate.
Intrepid volunteers like you achieved a lot:
- Ran the largest phonebank in rural NC, with 50 callers
- Made 33,679 calls resulting in 2572 conversations
- Canvassed in several counties
- Raised over $400,000 for eight groups and two candidates
SBA volunteers wrote and sent out 469,310 pieces of mail in 2022! The letters and postcards included vote-by-mail ballots, ballot-chase postcards, requests for candidate support, and get-out-the-vote messages.
SBA organizers focused on New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Volunteers also sent postcards to Colorado, Georgia, Wisconsin, Delaware, Ohio, and Florida.
The Volunteers TBD Calling Corps went full steam, with phone calls to NH, PA, and NC. The main focus was on recruiting organizers. Just before the election they transitioned to get-out-the-vote and ballot-cure efforts.
In all, the Calling Corps ...
- Dialed 16,983 numbers
- Spoke to 2769 people
- Reached 1,643 individuals who expressed interest in volunteering
