BUILDING MOMENTUMWho Do You Know? All you have to do is ask. |
We all have friends and family who share our desire to take back our democracy. But many don’t know what to do or how to get involved. In The Election 2020 Virtual Activism & Who Do you Know? workshop, Janet Singer and Lisa Stapleton break down how to bring them into the activist fold. They start by explaining the state of the race and the Swing Left Super States strategy. During the workshop, you’ll create a personal plan for reaching out to your networks using innovative tools that encourage people to help build the Blue Wave. Armed with sample texts, social media posts, training, and the Who Do You Know? Guide, you can reach out to your compatriots in democracy. You know you want a change in the country. (Other sessions on August 25 and September 10 and 20, but don’t wait!) It’s all about connections: Janet just heard from Sara Ann, a college classmate who attended the workshop last week. Sara Ann wrote: “Thanks for connecting me with Julia, who’s helping me with distribution of 500 postcards I’m writing with volunteer friends, and I’ve just sent the email below to 130 other friends and family.” Here’s Sara Ann’s letter. Feel free to use it as a starting point for connecting with all the wanna-be-activists in your own life.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITYHey, College Students! Are you heading back to school? |
Do you want to do something about the state of the country and don’t know where to start? Would you like to write articles, interview leaders, and collect and analyze data about activist campaigns? Can you see yourself increasing your impact by running events and recruiting other volunteers? If you answered Yes to these questions, then the Swing Left Greater Boston’s Save Our Voters Internship program is right for you. We’ll give you the opportunity to help boost Democratic turnout and prevent voter suppression across the swing states. The internship program runs from August 24 through the election. All you need is 8-10 hours a week and the desire to change the path of our nation. As part of the team, you’ll collaborate with students just like you, people with strong organizational, interpersonal, technical and research skills, plus a passion for social change. Do you know someone who fits this description? |
HAVE FUN CHANGING THE COUNTRYY’ART Going Up in PA |
This Y’ART sign, hand-crafted by a New Englander like you, is already winging its way to someone’s lawn in Monroe Country, working to put another Dem in the PA State House. Now, you can make your own Y’ART sign, and we’ll put it up where it has the greatest impact. Here’s how it works: You buy a kit that you pick up on a porch near you. You can watch our online videos to get some up-front advice. Then, you join other activists in a virtual art studio where a mentor is available to answer questions and give advice. In short, we hand over the supplies and guidance. All you add is the creativity, the elbow grease, and enthusiasm for democracy across the country.

VOLUNTEER PROFILEDriving SLGB CommunicationsTyler Moss |
Tyler Moss crafts messages and fashions how SLGB communications get delivered. He’s built an email program that manages the 10,000+ individuals who’ve signed up with SLGB. Tyler also supports the efforts of Ella Kitterman in managing SLGB´s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Here’s the big challenge: SLGB’s efforts are multi-faceted. Our projects include everything from writing Florida VBM postcards and calling voters in Pennsylvania to doing whatever it takes to beat Susan Collins in Maine. Tyler and his team tailor email specifically for each of these campaigns with messages targeted to each group. As part of this effort, he collaborates with the technology group that tags individuals so they receive information about their interests. For example, if someone asks about Florida VBM, the tagging process directs other emails about FL to that person. You have to be nimble and creative to keep up with the dynamic landscape of this election cycle and SLGB´s efforts. We’re very lucky to have Tyler’s ability and enthusiasm. |
