June marks the halfway point to Tuesday, November 5. In the last five months we’ve had some great wins – including Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York earlier this week! Now at the halfway point, we’re in a prime position to look back at what’s worked so far and look forward to what’s coming.
Just getting started with Swing Blue Alliance? Join our Volunteer Orientation on Monday, June 3 at 2:00 pm EDT.
1. Early Successes: New Hampshire and Ohio
We all know that back in January New Hampshire held a primary where Joe Biden was not on the ballot. That was because the Democratic Party wanted to have South Carolina be the first in the nation to vote for Democratic candidates. However, New Hampshire held the primary anyway. Swing Blue Alliance supported a write in Biden campaign with these postcards to help ensure the president still came out on top. We all know that Joe did end up successfully winning the primary by a wide margin, but we also conducted a controlled study to see how well our campaign performed. We take metrics and results seriously, so we partner with our research team to ensure we understand our impact.
In the end, we mailed over 34,000 cards to strong Democratic voters. We had a control group of nearly 6K voters that we didn’t mail cards to, this helped us understand our impact. With this study, we that we had a major impact on the vote. People who received our cards were 1.25% more likely to vote than the controls. This is HUGE and helps us further refine our efforts.
Swing Blue Alliance was able to achieve similar results in Ohio. A couple of months ago, we shared that our volunteers mailed nearly 35,000 postcards that increased turnout by 1.2% for Ohio’s August 8, 2023, special election. Now I’m excited to say that we’ve written a full report on the results and submitted it to the Analyst Institute for publication.

- Annual Swing Blue Alliance Picnic in Cambridge – Sunday, July 14 from 4 – 6pm EDT – Join Swing Blue Alliance and grassroots groups from Greater Boston at a fun family-friendly indoor/outdoor event with live folk music and activities for all.
- Call for North Carolina – alternating Wednesdays from 6-8pm and every Sunday from 6-8pm – Call strong Democrats to engage volunteers and voters in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area.
3. Sign Up for an In-Person Voter Registration Trip
Registering voters in crucial districts is the most impactful step we can take right now for the 2024 election. Many unregistered individuals would likely vote Democratic if they participated. Joining our in-person voter registration team gives you the opportunity to engage directly with voters, address their questions in person, and assist them in registering on the spot. Your enthusiasm and energy can motivate them to take part in the democratic process.
You can sign up for one of our trips in Pennsylvania!
4. Join the VoPro Pros
A wide range of actions can make sure voters cast their ballots and get counted: ballot chasing, ballot curing and voter protection hotlines, poll observer recruitment, and ensuring voters aren’t kicked off the rolls. You can join the VoPro Pros to make calls, emails, and texts, conduct online research and manage data.
5. Sign up for the next Frontline Update
Our next meeting will be June 29 from 10-10:30 am EDT. We’re at a pivotal point in recruiting for 2024 campaigns, and you won’t want to miss it!
