Recruit Volunteers to Recruit Voters
Swing Blue Alliance established the Volunteers Taking Back Democracy (T*B*D) Calling Corps to re-engage volunteers in Pennsylvania and other purple states because local volunteers are more effective at connecting with voters in their own communities. The current project is to recruit on-the-ground voter registration volunteers in Bucks County, the swingiest county in Pennsylvania.
The Volunteers T*B*D team is reaching 22% of the people they call; more than 50% of the Dems we talk to are ready to take action. What is that in numbers? In the last two weeks, the 10-15volunteer recruiters at the phonebanks have had real conversations with 84 Pennsylvanians. Of those, 26 signed up to one or more voter registration events and another 33 signed up for the Bucks County Dems newsletter.
This success, along with the great conversations with like-minded PA Democrats, is why many Volunteers T*B*D callers say that this is the best phonebanking that they've ever done.
Be part of the Calling Corps and exponentialize your contribution!
Find out why these recruitment calls are so effective at the SBA All Volunteer Roundup (see the next article!).

You’ll get answers to these questions:
What do SBA volunteers think? Survey researchers studied over 2,000 SBA volunteers. Learn what the researchers found out about us!
What works in red states like NC? Hear what strategies Elaine Berry, former Alamance Co. Democratic Party Chair, and Montreena Hadley, first Black woman elected to the Mebane City Council, are using to swing NC.
Why is recruiting volunteers in red and purple states so powerful? Vicki Levi, a psychiatrist with years of experience in motivational interviewing, will talk about how building relationships can maximize recruitment efforts.
Get the latest on what’s happening in NC at the All In for North Carolina monthly meeting.
You’ll learn what volunteers are doing -- and what you could do yourself -- to help local grassroots groups take back North Carolina for the Dems.
What’s at stake? On-the-ground groups are laying the groundwork to flip the open Republican-held US Senate seat, which is up for grabs in November. They will also be supporting select US Representatives, depending on the outcome of this year’s redistricting (current proposals are in the courts).
At the meeting, you will also hear from executive directors of the two largest Latinx organizing groups in NC, Kelly Morales of Siembra NC and Irene Godinez of PODER NC. They will discuss the methods that made their efforts successful in past elections.
All In for NC is a group of out-of-state volunteers working shoulder-to-shoulder (virtually) with friends in North Carolina. We share a commitment to democracy and progressive government.
You’re probably texting daily with friends and family, just to share jokes and schedule events. Put your thumbs to good use by texting Democratic voters in purple and red states.
Texting doesn’t have the same hurdles as cold calls or cold canvassing. There’s extensive training. There’s also good company and support. What’s not to like?
This event is hosted by Indivisible-Acton Area and Indivisible-RISE Newburyport.

Support PA Grassroots Orgs
Like Volunteers T*B*D (see first article), Candidates & Causes is focusing on Pennsylvania. With many key races on the ballot -- including the US Senate, Governor, Attorney General and the state legislature -- the Pennsylvania midterm elections will be among the most consequential anywhere in the US.
With redistricting maps still in flux and the Pennsylvania primary more than three months away, C&C is not making candidate recommendations. Instead, they are supporting the following on-the-ground power-building groups in the Keystone State:
Environmental Voter Project
Turn PA Blue
Pennsylvania Stands Up
Pennsylvania Democratic Party

Candidates & Causes (C&C) is a grassroots fundraising organization dedicated to finding the most effective ways to elect Democrats and protect Democracy. Now in it’s fifth year, C&C’s focus for 2022 is on the often-neglected but all-important state-level races in states with competitive U.S. House and Senate races.
Swing Blue Alliance (formerly Swing Left Greater Boston) is the largest all-volunteer Democratic grassroots organization headquartered in Massachusetts. We use proven methods to protect our Democracy, work on competitive local and national elections, and strengthen the Democratic party at the grassroots level.
