Numbers, North Carolina, and New Volunteers
The February All Volunteer Roundup will be a potpourri, with something to satisfy every taste.
Numbers
What do Swing Blue Alliance volunteers think about politics and their participation in volunteer actions? Researchers Ron Rapoport and Drew Engelhart will present an analysis of their 2021 survey involving more than 2,000 SBA volunteers.
All in for North Carolina
Voter intimidation in Alamance County, North Carolina is serious and longstanding. Despite the obstacles, Elaine Berry is helping Latino and Black candidates win tough races. Elaine and Montreena Hadley, the first Black woman elected to the Mebane City Council will join the Roundup to explain how they beat the odds in this red county.
New Volunteers
Learn about the psychology of volunteer recruiting and how we can expand Democratic control by helping Democratic county committees in Pennsylvania.
Make Sure Every NH Vote Counts
New Hampshire will re-elect Democratic Representative Chris Pappas and Senator Maggie Hassan only if citizens can vote safely and securely.
It’s important to remember that local election officials play a major role in election administration, even deciding whether or not votes are counted. The March 8 elections will determine both town Moderators and Supervisors of the Checklist. These positions are responsible for election oversight. Right-wing activists are running for these seats.
Help ensure these elections -- and future ones -- proceed fairly. Learn how to answer voter questions on the NH Voter Protection hotline.

Yes, the Senate failed to pass the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act (FTVA). Nevertheless, we have not stopped fighting voter suppression. So, where do we go now?
Protection local elections
Across the country, each tier of legislators sets the rules for that town/district/state. Those rules control who can vote and how those votes count. The bottom line: the results of elections all the way up the ballot lie in the votes of local citizens voting in local elections.
We’re working with Common Cause in state-by-state campaigns. Each campaign aims to counter Republican voter suppression laws and to assure access to the ballot.
Phonebanks are targeting issues specific to each state. For example, calls are currently going to voters in Delaware in support of No-Excuse Absentee Voting; to Texas to recruit poll monitors in the primary; and to Florida to encourage state senators to stop anti-voter legislation. (See also the article above on voter protection in NH.)
Be part of the effort. You’ll be preparing our country for 2022 and 2024.

Daily at many times
These shifts always include training for new phonebankers
