Maine Kicks off 2020 with Vigor
|
The New Year 2020 Ready Kickoff meeting in Portland welcomed 65 activists eager to turn Maine blue. The crowd at Think Tank co-working space included representatives from three candidates running for Susan Collins’s seat.
Maine Dems Chair Kathleen Marra helped rally the troops. The meeting closed with breakout sessions on five different areas of activism that directed volunteers to the nine events planned over the next few weeks.

It’s all very easy — no persuasion required — just listening to voter issues, identifying support for candidates, and cleaning up the list.
Feedback from these calls will help the Maine Dems hone their anti-Collins messaging and have a stronger list for spring canvassing.
Please arrive promptly at 4:00 pm; we’ll start calling after the training, so bring your laptop or tablet, headphones, and charger.

| Overcome your fears and overcome Susan Collins

Don’t Run!
|
Let candidates do the running, and help them by overcoming your reluctance to make calls.
While letters and postcards are effective, your calls are truly personal; they cost less, too! Yes, it’s not pleasant when rings go unanswered. At the same time, even the most carefully written postcards can go undelivered or into trash baskets without even being read.
These calls aren’t about persuading, you’ll just be chatting. Your time on the phone will contribute to more powerful messaging and a stronger voter list for canvassing.
Still uncomfortable? Mainers tend to be polite, pleasant, and likely to answer their phones. Come to the training, test the waters on an approachable crowd, and help the Maine Dems defeat Susan Collins!
