We’ll be meeting at 8 AM at the junction of Mass Ave and Route 16 in North Cambridge to hold signs and banners that help commuters understand that, these days, standing on the sidelines and doing nothing, rather than standing on the side of the street and waving signs, is simply not an option.
We’ll have extra signs about ICE, Trump, Invoking the 25th, No Kings and so forth and you can also bring your own. We’ll have mid-sized American flags as well you can easily wave.
The site is well-served by the MBTA 77 Bus and there is a fair amount of street parking, though depending on when the parking agents make their rounds you’ll risk a ticket if you don’t have a permit. There is no nearby public bathroom.
The area is fairly flat, a combination of grass and sidewalk, so it can somewhat accommodate people with mobility challenges. As an active sidewalk, though, remaining somewhat stationary in a wheelchair might be tough.
We need to be mindful about not getting in the way of pedestrians and cyclists who may be on the sidewalk and staying out of the street traffic at this busy intersection.
I will be wearing a GoPro so the event will be, at least somewhat, recorded. If nothing noteworthy happens, I delete the recording afterwards.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
