We will be calling South Asian voters in service of three goals:
Getting out the vote for the June 17th Virginia primary elections. Virginia is going to have competitive races for governor and house of delegates in November. By getting people out to vote in the primary, we will activate them to vote in the general election.
Additionally, the reconciliation bill is making its way to a vote in the House of Representatives with huge cuts to Medicaid and the Inflation Reduction Act clean energy tax credits. We will be making calling voters in swing districts represented by Republicans to voice opposition to these cuts.
Elon Musk and DOGE are currently stopping money that has already been contracted out to communities to pay for anti-hunger nonprofits and clean water supply from being spent. Furthermore, not only is the Trump administration proposing massive cuts to medical research and scientific research in general, the process of issuing grants to universities for research is being delayed. Lastly, the process of issuing any existing or new grants from the National Science Foundation is currently frozen and all 37 divisions of the NSF are being deleted. We will be calling swing districts with Republican representatives to express opposition.
