CHELMSFORD, MA – Author Talk: Michael Ansara – The Hard Work of Hope: Lessons from a Lifetime of Organizing

September 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Michael Ansara discusses his 2025 book, The Hard Work of Hope: A Memoir. He was on the front lines in the eventful and heady days of the civil rights and anti-Vietnam war organizing. Michael chronicles the hopes and strategies of the young people who created the movements of the 1960s and 70s that rocked the country. He shares his personal story as a community organizer and the lessons that could be applied to today’s struggles to protect our democracy. Join him for an insightful and hopeful conversation.
“This book is mandatory reading for anyone interested in the movements of the 1960s and 70s. It’s also incredibly helpful for everyone at work in the equally compelling fights of today – it’s not just a memoir, it’s a manual for what to do (and what to avoid)!” Bill McKibben, founder 350.0rg and Third Act
