We will be calling South Asian voters living in Virginia to get out the vote for the Virginia primary election on June 17th. As the governor’s race in November is likely to be highly consequential, it will be good to get voters in Virginia in the practice of getting out to vote.
We will also be calling South Asian voters living in swing districts represented by Republicans to ask them to contact their representatives about the huge funding cuts that the Trump administration is proposing to the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. The Trump administration plans to cut 38% from the NIH and 55% from the NSF. Furthermore, they are delaying the spending of congressionally appropriated money, such that 3.8 billion dollars of scientific funding has been withheld from the NIH alone, compared with the same time last year.
Lastly, we will be calling states represented by moderate Republican Senators to ask them to oppose the Medicaid cuts in the reconciliation bill and the Inflation Reduction Act clean energy tax credits.
