The theme of the April Frontline Update was voter registration. Identifying unregistered voters and reaching them effectively are key actions for our efforts this election season. Swing Blue Alliance provides many ways to let people get involved. The BIGGEST impact you can make would be to register potential voters in-person, in critical swing states, but we also have opportunities for you to support Democrats at home via texting, joining an internal team, and phone banking.
Below is a summary of what we discussed in our Frontline Update and all the ways you can get involved to support our democracy!
1. Sign Up for an In-Person Voter Registration Trip
Voter registration in key districts is the most important action we can take for the 2024 election today. Many unregistered people, if they were to vote, would vote Democratic. Being part of our in-person voter registration team allows you to connect with voters directly, answer questions face-to-face, and help them register on the spot. Your energy and enthusiasm can inspire them to participate in the democratic process.
You can sign up for one of our trips in Arizona and Pennsylvania now. If you’re interested in learning about what it’s like to participate in one of these trips and why it’s critical to the 2024 election, sign up for our informational session:

2. Join an Internal Volunteer Team
Swing Blue Alliance is looking for individuals with special skills to help us with critical programs behind the scenes. Fill out our volunteer form if you’re interested in supporting one of our internal teams below, and be sure to note your experience!
- Frontline Update: Contact us if you have experience with social media, writing, and team coordination
- Voter Registration Data Services: Reach out if you have experience with data analysis and list management
- Video Squad: Connect with us if you are a film production, post production, or marketing professional
3. Volunteer to Text Unregistered Voters
Working in conjunction with Field Team 6, we will text unregistered likely Democrats in key swing states before 2024’s elections! Texting is an efficient and convenient way to connect with voters. Field Team 6 calls this BYOP or Bring Your Own Phone, although it actually uses your own computer with an anonymized Google Voice number or Apple’s iMessage app. And it’s a great way to register new Democrats!
After a successful pilot program, we’re ramping up our texting efforts. Sign up now to start communicating with potential voters.
4. Virtual Fundraiser for The States Project in Arizona and North Carolina
Swing Blue Alliance and Swing Left North Shore Cape Ann are hosting a virtual fundraiser on April 30th at 7:00 pm ET to support The States Project’s programs in Arizona and North Carolina. The States Project will leverage our financial contributions to make sure that campaigns for state legislatures follow evidence-based best practices to increase Democratic votes. These states are critical because the balance of the state legislature is at a tipping point. Defending or flipping just a few seats is within reach if we supply Democrats in those states with EARLY FUNDING NOW.

5. Meet Swing Blue Alliance and The Civics Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Swing Blue Alliance and The Civics Center are hosting an in-person event in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This event will give you an insider’s look into The Civics Center’s mission to register the four million 18-year-olds who graduate from high school every year.
Funds raised at this event will help turnout young voters and help the Civics Center in its mission to make voter registration part of every high school in America. You’ll also have a chance to meet the Civics Center’s founder and CEO, Laura Brill, who served as a law clerk to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

6. Phone Bank to Stop Gerrymandering in Ohio
Swing Blue Alliance is hosting phone banks to help stop gerrymandering in Ohio. The Ohio petition drive will put a referendum on the ballot to create a commission that will include 5 Democrats, 5 Republican, and 5 Independents, none of which can be politicians to draw fair voting districts. More than 400,000 valid signatures from Ohio voters must be collected by the deadline of July 3 in order to appear on the November ballot, so join the phone bank efforts to help make it happen.
7. Call for North Carolina: Sign Up for a Phone Bank
Last month we told you about our North Carolina phone banks, where we’re calling strong Democrats to engage volunteers and voters in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area. So far this year we’ve had 13 phonebanks with 302 callers, 8856 calls, and we’ve contacted 1035 voters. Of those voters, 188 have said YES and 284 MAYBE to attending MeckDems events. We are on track to hit about 25K+ calls this year, compared to 10K last year.
North Carolina is a highly purple and key swing state. Now is your chance to help turn NC blue. These are easy calls, we are calling strong Democrats to engage volunteers and voters in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area.Sign up for one of our phone banks to help swing the election.
8. Become a Postcard Organizer
Every year, volunteers hand-write, stamp and send hundreds of millions of postcards to voters, investing time and money in the hope of swinging close elections. Swing Blue Alliance honors and supports this work by doing our best to ensure that each postcard or letter-writing campaign conveys the right message to the right voters at the right time. With the assistance of the research team, we review available literature and design and implement experiments – hoping to learn something new from every campaign.
What powers every campaign is the group leaders and postcard hosts who purchase postcards at our online store and distribute them to their volunteer networks. The Swing Blue Alliance postcard team appreciates the opportunity to serve you and your volunteers. Together, we create the change we want and need to see in our political system.
