GOTVIt Comes Down to Just One Vote |
One vote. That was the margin for State House of Representative elections in KY, AK, and VT (3 times!) in the last ten years. In 2012, a coin flip decided control of the Virginia House of Delegates in 2000.The bottom line? A Democrat in the White House and a Democratic majority in the Senate are not lasting successes: Without Democratic state legislatures, voter suppression and gerrymandering will continue for years to come. The fate of redistricting in 2021 will come down to razor-thin margins in this election.Time is limited but opportunity is huge. In these last weeks, even national campaigns are supporting Democratic state legislative candidates. Every single vote can [do what? suggest a word?] . Join a state legislative phone bank now .. while you still can. FL and PA: State Candidates MI: Nicole Breadon MI: Julia Pulver MI: Christine Morse NC: Frances Jackson PA: Paul Freil |
PICK A DAY, PICK A STATE |
The best thing you can do for democracy is to focus on state, get to know its issues, and be part of a phone banking community that meets on the same day every week.
While there are hundreds of phone banks available, you might pick from one (or two) of the events below, which occur at the same every week. Each event will occur just three times … that’s how few weeks we have left! (So pick more than one event!) |

PHONE BANKS I |
Add a phone bank shift to your calendar … it could be the [need a word? other than difference?] between a win and a loss in November. |
PHONE BANKS IIExponentially Increase Your Impact |
If you’re already phone banking but want to have more of an effect, you are a perfect candidate for phone bank captain. As a captain, before the event, you’ll post your event and keep attendees informed. At the event, you’ll explain the process and be available to answer questions. After the event, you will report the results.
Sound scary? It’s not. We provide extensive training and resources and will pair you with an experienced co-captain to get you started. You can do this! And help will be there every step of the way. |
FUNDRAISINGRBG Memorial NOTE-ORIOUS Concert |
Celebrate RGB at this online musical tribute to save the Senate (and our democracy). You’ll hear diverse instrumental and vocal pieces, including a Boston Revolutionary hymn; a political satire a la Gilbert and Sullivan, and even RBG’s infamous pot roast recipe in song.
All proceeds support Democratic candidates who are poised to flip Senate seats. |
The World Is With Us |
Valerie Venuto lives in France, but she is still concerned about the U.S. election. She is acting on her values, volunteering with the Florida Dems. “The world is scared of Trump and does care. I want to help any way I can.” |
FLORIDAProtect Our Success |
Volunteer efforts have already reaped benefits in Florida: Dems have submitted many more VBM ballots than our opponents.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how many people vote in Florida — and in every other state — if the votes don’t count. Swing Left Greater Boston has joined the Florida Democratic Party to staff a hotline based on LBJ (Lawyers Bound for Justice) software. After our 90-minute training, you’ll be completely prepared to respond to calls for help from poll watchers, poll observers, and voter protection experts . They’ll be asking you how to access or use the LBJ tool, and you’ll be right there, ready to give them answers. You don’t have to be a lawyer, a voter protection specialist, or a computer engineer. You just have to like talking to people and helping them when they get stuck. With your assistance, they’ll be back to solving voters’ problems and getting votes to count. Can you sign for three- or four-hours shifts at least |
MICHIGANA Blue Wave Hits Michigan! |
Our group has increased tenfold (from 100 to 1150) Learn more! SHERRIE AT THE HELM“I started phone banking just a few weeks ago, so I know how intimidating and confusing it can be! Would I have the skills, stamina, courage, or time? Now, I’m phone banking several hours a week. I think I’m a little addicted,” says Sherrie Torrey, Michigan Phone Bank Coordinator. “Once I got over my initial hump of inaction and saw how much of a difference I could make, I became eager to help others participate.” Thus was born Michigan Phone Banking 101. Sherrie developed and delivers this low-key introduction, which gives people the information and confidence they need to sign up for phone banks going forward. “I’ve just finished the first session, and I’m simultaneously exhausted and jubilant …” Get in touch with me or simply volunteer . I look forward to meeting you!” |
MAINEPick Your Own … |

We’d like to spread these unscripted, self-filmed recordings via ads, social media, and streaming channels! Can you help us get the word out? We want to reach to low propensity voters who are likely to vote Democratic … if we can get them to the polls. Please donate PROTECT THE VOTEThere’s still a chance for you to staff a voter protection hotline, watch absentee ballot processing, and/or observe at polling places. These ___ start one week before the election and continue through Election Day. DO YOU HAVE ROOM?If you have space to house a campaign organizer; please contact Olivia at the Maine Dems.
