Freedom to Vote Rally in DC, Sat, Oct 23

Join the Freedom to Vote Rally

Swing Blue Alliance and friends at last summer's March on Washington for Voting Rights

We’re already into October, and the Senate hasn’t been able to protect the freedom to vote. Due to Senate Republican obstructionism, we need to pull out all the stops to get the Freedom to Vote Act to the finish line.

Join Swing Blue Alliance as we head to Washington, DC, on 10/23. We’ll be part of a broad coalition of organizations, both local (Indivisible Massachusetts Coalition, and MA Standing Up for Racial Justice, Indivisible Northampton), and national  (Common Cause, SEIU, NOW, Sierra Club, Brennan Center for Justice, and Public Citizen), plus many others.

Many volunteers will also spend Saturday night in Fredericksburg, VA; they'll help keep VA blue by canvassing with the Josh Cole campaign. See the next article.

Stay an Extra Day for Virginia Democrats

Whether or not you plan to march in DC, consider spending the night in Fredericksburg, VA, to canvass on Sunday 10/24 with the Josh Cole campaign.

It's only four weeks until the November 2 election for Virginia's state governorship, house of delegates, and senate seats. A win for Dems will protect their achievements of the last four years: Medicaid, minimum wage, funding for childcare, voting rights, abortion rights, and ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment.

Democratic activists in VA are not seeing the level of local enthusiasm and donations they have in the past. The Dem campaigns are looking for volunteers to fill in the gaps ... happily "filling in the gaps" is a specialty of Swing Blue Alliance!

Can’t go to VA? See many other ways to support the Democratic candidates on the Swing Blue Alliance website under Campaigns >> Virginia.

Drum Up Support for VA

A great way to bring energy to the Virginia campaigns is to increase the number of available volunteers. You can help us meet this challenge by asking experienced volunteers to participate. As part of the Volunteers T*B*D Calling Corps, you can phone people who have already volunteered with Swing Blue Alliance (SBA) and encourage them to re-engage.

Since you’ll be phoning people familiar with SBA (perhaps they still think of us as Swing Left Greater Boston?), it’s an easy ask. More than half the people we’ve called so far have said Yes!

Better Than Ever!

Check out the Volunteer Calendar -- it's an essential element of the brand new Swing Blue Alliance (SBA) website. You'll find a comprehensive list of all the events organized by Massachusetts volunteers to swing our country blue. The calendar also points you to selected workshops from partner organizations across the country that share SBA goals.

You’ll find opportunities to phonebank, write postcards, canvass, and attend informative sessions about Democratic campaigns and causes. Sort, search, and filter the list to meet your preferences. You can even view events in a calendar, full list, or summary format (the view below).
