Two Young Legislators Leading the Way
This month’s Win Blue NH meeting is full of news about what young legislators can do against strong odds.
Meet Maine State Senator Chloe Maxmin and hear how -- in her twenties -- she won two upset victories in rural Maine. Maxim will talk about what she learned, which she’s written about in her book, Dirt Road Revival: How to Rebuild Rural Politics and Why Our Future Depends On It.
Also meet Manny Espitia, NH State Representative from Nashua. Espitia will describe his successes as leader of the NH Young Dems and as the Northern Regional Director of Run for Something, which recruits and encourages young progressives.
"If you're not crazy about getting on the phones but want to do something that's proven to help protect our democracy, become a postcard/letter-writing organizer. The ranks of writers are surging over the past month, especially after the decision to reverse Roe, and they need materials to send. One thing is clear: November '22 is not your typical mid-term. Dems must maintain/increase control of the House and Senate in '22 or our votes may not be counted in '24. Let’s turn this ship around!"
Erin Freed, Postcard Organizer
The Pennsylvania vote-by-mail (VBM) campaign is off to a good start. Organizers have distributed the first 12K letters to eager writers and are moving forward with a second 12K batch. This is a great first step toward the 174K letters we’ve committed to write.
Help PA Dems maintain control of the US Senate and retain their Dem governor … Without his veto power, pro-choice options will become illegal.
Here's your chance to influence the most competitive congressional race in the country. US Rep Matt Cartwright has won in a solidly Trump district three times, but he needs support to make it a “four-peat.”
Armed with call notes, background info, and training, you can help interested PA volunteers find activities that are right for them.
Voters are influenced by their friends and neighbors. That’s why it is crucial to expand the number of Democratic volunteers in swing states. Join the Volunteers T*B*D Calling Corps and get local activists fired up.
Pick your day, pick your state! Whoever you call has volunteered before and just needs a nudge.
Swing Blue Alliance is ready to double your support for Indivisible Georgia Coalition groups across the Peach State. During the month of August, SBA will pass on all donations to local Indivisible groups in GA. In addition, we’ll match the first $500 received! Let's help these activists pay for voter registration, get-out-the-vote campaigns, and civic education material!
Learning Corner sessions are co-hosted by Indivisible Acton Area, Swing Blue Alliance, and Indivisible Mass Coalition in collaboration with volunteers at the MAssachusetts Grassroots Information Collaborative, a Slack workspace for exchanging information, encouraging connections among groups, and building activist momentum across the state. What You Can Do About #MAGAMayhem
MAGA Republicans have attacked our Capitol, our rights to abortion and contraception, and our public schools. They have sowed division and radicalized moderate voters. They have usurped local and national broadcasts with a frenzy of lies, distortion, and fear mongering.
Time to go on the offensive
Indivisible and Swing Blue Alliance volunteers have the people, power, and smarts to combat these false narratives.
Be a part of the fight to combat #MAGAMayhem on social media. Come learn and practice how to:
Report misleading posts to organizations that can take fake news down
Think critically about what it is you are seeing on social media
Don’t let MAGA control the narrative or the US Congress.
Swing Blue Alliance (formerly Swing Left Greater Boston) is the largest all-volunteer Democratic grassroots organization headquartered in Massachusetts.
