\nOn July 17 - 19\, to commemorate Congressman John Lewis’s passing\, people are taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.
\nOur vehicles will drive separately but following the same route throughout Brockton. Our signs will catch the eyes of pedestrians and motorists alike\, waking them up to the power of their votes. Think of this votercade as a mobile stand-out! We will decorate our vehicles with signs that carry the spirit and message that voting is the foundation of our power. We will show that activism isn’t just for other people.

\nNotorious private prison companies The GEO Group and CoreCivic are being called on to be part of an unprecedented expansion in capacity as part of the Trump administration's mass detention\, deportation\, and surveillance policies.
\nTo accommodate the planned increase in detention capacity\, GEO and CoreCivic must undertake expensive construction and renovation projects. Since 2019\, though\, most of their lenders have cut ties with the two companies\, which have faced allegations from forced labor to securities fraud.
\nCitizens Bank has instead deepened its relationship with the private prison industry\, taking on new roles in financing both CoreCivic and GEO\, all while continuing to tell their customers that they're focused on strengthening our communities.
\nWe won't quietly stand by as Citizens continues to finance the private prison & ICE detention companies that are harming our communities. But even as the heartbreaking stories pour out of ICE detention centers\, Citizens Bank keeps pouring money into them.

On the big national days of protest (NO KINGS) we are in the thousands. We have signs and cowbells to borrow\, bubbles and the best music by our tireless DJ Jim. We have a permit from the Beverly Police Department and marshals to assist people and answer questions. The best part of our protests are the people. You will have never met so many kind and wonderful folks who over the many months standing out in rain\, cold\, snow and heat have become a close knit family committed to not standing by in the face of the insanity and cruelty of the current administration. While most major banks have cut ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group\, Citizens Bank is deepening its financial support for these companies\, which are already holding more than half of the 70\,000 immigrants currently in ICE detention centers across the country.
\nThe bank’s capital is supporting a deplorable ICE agenda that aims to fill detention centers with more than 100\,000 people by next year. Even as it publicly touts its commitment to “strengthening our communities\,” Citizens Bank has played a key role in helping The GEO Group and CoreCivic access more than $2.5 billion in financing\, some of it approved earlier this year. This comes as the companies face a mountain of allegations\, including forced labor and wrongful deaths due to understaffing and medical neglect at their facilities.

\nWe have our peaceful Stand Outs weekly. Every Sunday from noon to 1:30pm we line the street around our Common and hold signs that are relevant to fighting for our Democracy. We sing songs and we do chants\, we are unified in our love for our country and we know it is important for us to stand up and be seen\, be heard and be with other Patriots that care about our country. We have copies of the Constitution and flags along with signs that can be used. We welcome all to stand tall with us. We also collect food and funds for our town's Food Pantry. We are in this together and helping our community in this small way is an act of empathy\, understanding and kindness that we encourage.
