There are so many urgent health-related issues that demand our advocacy. The Trump regime has declared war on science, evidence-based policy, and public health. As healthcare workers and as Americans, we cannot stand by while our public health leadership, research institutions, and science-based guidelines are decimated. We must walk out to demand the resignation or removal of RFK Jr. who has led these reckless efforts.
But that is not enough. The administration has turned programs meant to nourish and heal our most vulnerable neighbors into political weapons. Americans have long chosen to invest their tax dollars in care ensuring that families can afford healthcare and food when they are most at risk. Programs like SNAP were created so that no child in the United States would go hungry, and Medicaid and Medicare so that all Americans could access healthcare in their time of need.
We cannot allow these programs to be manipulated for political gain any longer. It is time to show up, speak up, stand up, and walk out for science, for health, and for our shared humanity.
Wednesday Walkouts for Health aims to activate and engage healthcare workers, advocates, and their communities around political threats to health. Join others across the country in this coordinated weekly action!
This is a standout event. We stand under a streetlight on Broadway and 3rd and Main next to Galaxy Park. Join for any length of time. If this window of time or location doesn’t work for you, we encourage you to consider partnering with others to standout at another time/location on a Wednesday.
