With only 2 months left to send postcards before the midterms, Swing Blue is focusing on candidates who can especially use your help getting on the radar screens of voters - candidates running for important state legislative races and the obscure - but critically important - NH Executive Council.
Join us Wed, Aug 24 at 5 pm as we launch our newest postcard campaigns, for NC State Senate candidate Mary Wills Bode and the 5 Democratic candidates for the NH Executive Council. Council candidate Shoshanna Kelly will join us.
Project partners Sarah O'Brien from County to County North Carolina and Donnie Spencer from the New Hampshire Executive Council Campaign Committee will explain why these new postcard projects are critically important to help their candidates win, and why our postcard campaigns will have a big impact.
You'll also hear from Swing Blue volunteers Julia and Emily, who will explain the joys of becoming a Postcard Host.
If you've ever written a postcard to a voter - kudos to you for reaching out across the miles.
Swing Blue Alliance needs your help from now until late October. We've made a commitment to candidates who are counting on us to help get out voters in their races. Choose your favorite way to make an impact:
Postcard Host Training: As part of the NC/NH postcard campaign launch, Julia and Emily, Swing Blue Alliance Mailing Campaign volunteers, will show you how to register for the Swing Blue Organizing Center, place your order on the E-Store, and spread the word about your distribution to your network.
North Carolina has one of the three best chances in the U.S. to pick up a U.S. Senate seat for Democrats. At this month's All in for NC meeting, Blair Reeves, founder and executive director of Carolina Forward, the state's leading Democratic communications organization, will give us the skinny on the latest polls and the messages that are resonating with voters. He'll be joined by Jillian Johnson, Durham City Councillor and NC representative for the Movement Voter Project.
Senate candidate John Fetterman is back on the campaign trail after recovering from a stroke. Josh Shapiro is working hard to defeat election denier Doug Mastriano in the Governor's race.
You can help! Swing Blue Alliance is working with the Bucks County Democratic Committee to recruit local volunteers. Join a phone bank! Calls are to friendly people who have volunteered in the past. Or, you can help distribute letters to be sent to "infrequent" Democratic PA voters to help them apply to Vote by Mail.
Canvass in Manchester: With just 80 days to go, knocking on doors is the best way to connect with voters. Join the Swing Blue team and Organize NH in Manchester to identify supporters of Maggie Hassan and Chris Pappas, and use Deep Canvassing techniques to move the needle towards Democrats.
Help Flip the NH Executive Council: Our NH Postcard Campaign will target the 5-member New Hampshire Executive Council, a government body with an amazing amount of power that even the most loyal Democrats who vote the straight ticket often skip on their ballots. Republicans flipped it in 2020. We have a good chance of flipping it back to the Dems this year.
The Executive Council confirms state court judges and agency heads, approves all state contracts over $10,000, and accepts federal funds allocated to New Hampshire. Republicans currently hold a 4-1 majority and have used their power to defund family planning services, reject $27M in federal COVID-19 relief, and approve a Department of Education Commissioner who does not believe in public education. Our postcards will remind Democrats how critical it is to vote for the Democratic Executive Council candidate in their district.
Swing Blue Alliance is gearing up for the highly charged 2022 midterm cycle, ready to focus on the critical issue of voter protection. There are several key opportunities to stop voter suppression starting soon. Fill out this form to let us know if you want to learn more.
Lean Left Vermont is sponsoring the Lean Left Power Hour every Sunday between now and November 8. Show up anytime between 3 and 5 pm, then spend an hour or two working with other like-minded activists.
Sundays @ 3 pm - 5 pm EDT
Google Drive for Beginners
Save time, minimize confusion and simplify your activist life! We're going to show you how activists use Google Drive. In this class, you will learn:
A Deep Canvassing conversation gets voters talking about personal experiences and draws on emotional connections. It’s research-based, and has been found to be a highly effective persuasion technique. Our plan is to use these techniques to listen to voters’ concerns and help hone the issue message for the campaign. These techniques can be used on the phones and at the doors. This training is a single 1.5 hour introduction to Deep Canvassing.
Learning Corner sessions are co-hosted by Indivisible Acton Area, Swing Blue Alliance, and Indivisible Mass Coalition in collaboration with volunteers at the MAssachusetts Grassroots Information Collaborative, a Slack workspace for exchanging information, encouraging connections among groups, and building activist momentum across the state.
