CALL TO ACTION

People Calling People

Tell the Senate!
You phonebanked with Swing Left Greater Boston to help elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Then you helped elect Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. Now we need you again to pass S.1, the For the People Act.

Protect the right to vote and end minority rule in this country! The For The People Act will only pass if people like you and me are willing to take action.

Please join Jeff Lobo and Steve Vogel to call voters in Arizona on Mondays 4-6pm Eastern and patch them through to Kyrsten Sinema's office to express their support for the For the People Act. We will give you all of the training that you need when we meet in Zoom.Call to action

Announcing Team NEPA

Join Team NEPA! We will be focusing on PA’s northeast corner, where Democratic votes will be critical in holding Matt Cartwright’s CD 08 congressional seat and in flipping PA’s Senate seat blue in 2022.

Why PA? Pennsylvania is one of the “swingiest” states with a mix of Democrats and Republicans up and down the ballot. Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seat is likely to be the most flippable in the country, with Sen. Pat Toomey (R) not running for re-election.

Did you know?
Redistricting in Pennsylvania may give Democrats the opportunity to flip seats.

What is NEPA?
NEPA is a mixture of rust-belt cities, including Biden’s home town of Scranton, and more rural areas. Protecting Democrat Matt Cartwright’s 8th district congressional seat and getting votes out for the U.S. Senate race starts now. Be part of a team working on the ground to engage voters year-round.

How do I get started? Dive right in with a phone bank for Marty Flynn, the Democratic candidate running in a special election right in CD 08. The more often people vote, the more reliable they are, so let’s get these voters excited, engaged and voting!

Sign up here to phone bank with Swing Left Greater Boston/Swing Blue Alliance veterans Paula Joseph and Lisa Zankman on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 8 pm or join in any day with Flynn’s campaign staff.

True or False?

Riding on the Coattails of Down-Ballot Candidates

Down-Ballot Coattails
In major election years, down-ballot candidates rely ride on the "top of the ticket" to drive turnout. This enables them to ride “on the coattails” of national candidates of the same party. This year, researchers asked whether the reverse can be true, as well. Could down-ballot candidates who excite voters with local issues actually drive up Democratic participation up?Call to action

120 Volunteers Planning Our Future
fundraising 101

Over 120 Swing Left Greater Boston volunteers from around the country participated in planning forums on April 5th and 7th.

They broke up into small groups to discuss strategic questions that will help us plan our actions for 2021 and 2022. The seven questions ranged from whether SLGB should get involved in electorally related issues like HR/S1 to whether SLGB should focus primarily on national races or get involved in state legislative races as a way to stop voter suppression at the state level.

Each group had a facilitator and a scribe so that we could keep detailed records of the conversation. All participants will receive summaries of the sessions. If you'd like to receive a copy of the summary report, please fill out our volunteer form.
