Thank you.

“Hanging in the balance” takes on an even-more-fraught meaning in these days after the election. Yet, while we wait for final results, we have much to celebrate. SLGB volunteers participated in more than 3.5 million activities – and spent an estimated 125,300 hours — on the election. That’s YOU …

Cumulative Volunteer Activities Over Time
You’re part of a wide-reaching community that stretches from coast to coast. You wrote 1.3M postcards and letters, made 971,000 calls, sent countless text messages, and even canvassed (socially distanced, of course) to help Super State residents cast their votes.

Total Volunteer Hours
Key to SLGB’s power is the vibrant network of volunteer hosts, captains, and program managers. Hundreds of leaders stepped up, coordinating behind the scenes to drive and support events, programs, and training. They are at the core of SLGB’s success and purpose.

Already, groups are forming to support Democrats in Georgia’s runoff election for both seats in the U.S. Senate. Others are looking for new ways to fight voter suppression and bolster equal rights.

The state of the union.

The ballot count gives us a clear picture of a divided country. The U.S. is likely to remain on the edge of this cliff through the final tallies, inevitable legal challenges, and even the electoral college vote. These are the vagaries — and strengths — of our Democracy.

In the last five days, we have watched with horror, despair, hope, and careful optimism. All these emotions will rise and fall right through to the inauguration. But that has not stopped our dedication.

The future of SLGB.

It turns out the next phase of SLGB’s activism began at midnight on November 3 as offers to help poured in. On Friday, 686 people turned up for Zoom training to cure ballots!

Swing Left Greater Boston was born in 2017 to help volunteers in the
Blue Bubble take effective action to save our democracy.
We have … and are still … fulfilling that mission.
